ABOUT OBINNA UGWU MIMECHE

I am a chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 21 years’ experience in various aspects of asset integrity management (topside as well as subsea). I have a very good understanding of various life cycle integrity challenges and considerations associated with ageing assets; from cost optimisation and life extension issues to the abandonment paradox.I have over the years demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the asset integrity management process and the various conflicting perspectives in strategic asset integrity management as well as the problems involved in developing and implementing asset integrity management strategies and plans within the limitations of an organization or the constraints of a specific project.I am conversant with the scope of the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER) as well as the aims and requirements of the Pressure systems safety regulations (PSSR) with regards to safety, written scheme of examination (WSE) and the role of the competent person. I am also conversant with Pipeline safety regulations (PSR) as well as the recommendations of PD 8010 for subsea pipelines. I have a very good working knowledge of the requirements of various equipment codes (ASME div 1, PD5500, ASME B31.3 etc) and an in-depth understanding of damage mechanisms as covered in API 571, which in turn helps me in performing fitness for service assessments to API RP 579. I have demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of materials degradation processes and a natural feel for the RBI process, bringing value to numerous employers in this area. I have demonstrated very good understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by various disciplines involved in oil and gas asset management and I have shown that I can effectively analyse and appraise a range of strategic integrity management options and select appropriate sustainable ones to meet the needs of relevant stakeholders.
