I work with new patients that have a suspicion of, or are currently diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer or pre-cancer. My role is critical in elevating the patient experience, reducing fear, and helping coordinate patient care.I currently am: •Partnering with physicians, social workers, financial coordinators, dieticians, clinic nurses and intake team to develop and implement individualized care plans and document all patient interactions and interventions in patient chart•Using knowledge and clinical expertise to advocate and Educate patients, families and caregivers on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, disease process, supportive and palliative care options, as well as survivorship •Coordinating patient care in a large complex health system to help provide the best patient care and patient experience possible•Subject matter expert for care of the oncology patient population, medical and surgical•Creating my and implementing a patient tracking system for the intake and navigation team for Gynecology Oncology•Creating and designing the gynecologic oncology nurse navigation program and position•Created and implemented a patient tracking system for intake and navigation for the Gynecology Oncology department•Establishing and fostering relationships within the community and within the organization to establish referral patterns, increase new patient visits, and increase efficiency within the provider visits to streamline and organize, reducing frustration and delay for patients

ABOUT MAGGIE SHEEHAN
My experience within Oncology Nursing includes Oncology Care Coordination and Nurse Navigation, sub-specializing in Women’s Health and Cancer. I am a clinical expert in oncology, gynecology oncology, surgical oncology, medical oncology, and solid tumor. I am well-versed in all aspects of oncology care, ranging from access and knowledge regarding Cutting edge genomics/specialty tumor typing, to the latest clinical trials and various parts of drug development within our research sector. I have built strong, reputable relationships within the Denver oncology business network, clinical network, and pharmaceutical/tumor typing/genomics network. I am looking to expand upon those relationships and engage in new opportunities within any relevant field that strives for data-driven, positive patient outcomes and excellence. I have received many awards and acknowledgements from both patients and administration, and am proud to be an active member of numerous professional organizations that consistently work towards increasing access to care and using metrics to drive decision making along the way. I am the former Magnet Nurse of the Year in 2017, Nightingale Luminary 2018, Colorado Nurse of the Year 2024, Daisy Award Nominee 2010, and part of the oncology Teams We Treasure in 2014. I work closely with local and national non-profits to connect patients with resources to reduce barriers to care and reduce access difficulties across a 6 state area to serve the most remote of patients in a timely fashion. I work with the American Cancer Society through a grant, funding my department to define and refine the role of Nurse Navigation throughout our health care system. Creating scripts for patient education videos, filming Nurse Navigator training videos, and expanding our Continuum of Care Model using ONS and AONN guidelines for best practice. I am highly engaged in clinical and quality safety meetings, analyzing risk, and being a part of team that is solution focused to reduce clinical error, and creatively adopt solutions to better our standards and drive positive patient outcomes. My interests include: Clinical and Non-Clinical nursing roles, risk management, legal nurse consulting, revenue and utilization management, chart reviews, medical record auditing, documentation accuracy, quality improvement, process improvement, surgical and medical oncology practices, pharmaceuticals, cellular genomics, research, genetics, genetic testing and traditional/non-traditional roles or opportunities with a high-level background in all aspects of Oncology
