ABOUT NISHANT PATEL

I specialise in applying human factors science and safety methodology to safety-critical systems, examining how people, technology, and organisations interact under pressure and what that means for risk.My most substantial piece of work is my thesis on the Boeing 737 MAX MCAS accidents, where I analysed the human-automation interface failures that contributed to two fatal crashes, identified the systemic design flaws that created conditions for predictable human error, and proposed human-centred improvements grounded in safety case evidence. It is the kind of investigation that changed how I think about what safety engineering is actually for.Beyond the thesis, my project work includes a full aircraft fuel system safety case using FTA, FMEA and Zonal Safety Analysis with end-to-end hazard log management and ALARP justification, and a simulator-based evaluation of single pilot operations using STPA methodology on the Rolls-Royce Future Systems Simulator at Cranfield.I am actively looking for roles in aviation, defence, UAS, or safety-critical infrastructure as a Human Factors Engineer, Safety Engineer, or Systems Safety Analyst. I want to take this foundation into a team where the work carries real consequences, and where I can start building the kind of professional evidence that matches what I have been trained to do.
