ABOUT NINA VALKANOVA
I am a design leader working at the intersection of experience design, technology, and research. Over the past 20 years, I have worked across innovation consultancies and academic and experimental labs, engaging in diverse industry projects — including MING Labs, IXDS (now PwC Experience Consulting), Ars Electronica Futurelab, Telekom Innovation Labs, and Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design. My work focuses on bridging design, experience strategy, and business impact- Leading and growing design teams to align customer experience with organizational goals- Expanding design toolkits to include futures thinking and responsible innovation practices- Exploring how AI can be integrated into digital innovation in meaningful and responsible ways- Building scalable design operations and enablement frameworks that strengthen collaboration and delivery. I am now shaping the next chapter of my career by exploring fractional leadership, management, and advisory roles — where I can help build design capability, navigate complex futures, and unlock opportunities at the intersection of design, foresight, and innovation. I am also the co-founder of Design in Flux — a hybrid platform and studio for critical exploration of the future of the design profession, offering dialogue, research, and collaborative formats to navigate the structural shifts shaping design.
