ABOUT NIKITHA
During my studies in Sheffield Hallam university (M.Sc Analytical chemistry), I gained valuable hands-on experience with a range of analytical techniques central to modern chemical and biomedical research. My training included extensive use of Gas-Liquid Chromatography (GLC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), where I developed skills in sample preparation, method development, instrument calibration, and data interpretation. These techniques were fundamental in exploring the chemical composition of complex mixtures with precision and reliability. A key highlight of my academic journey was my research project focused on MALDI Imaging (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization). This project allowed me to explore advanced mass spectrometry techniques for spatial mapping of biomolecules within tissue samples. Through this work, I gained experience in sample sectioning, matrix application, data acquisition, and image processing — and developed a deeper understanding of the applications of MALDI imaging in biomedical research, particularly in disease pathology and biomarker discovery. These experiences have not only strengthened my technical and analytical skills but also enhanced my ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex procedures, and communicate scientific findings effectively.
