ABOUT NIGEL LEEHANE
Extensive experience in environmental management consultancy, focussing on improving environmental and sustainability performance in organisations. This involves strategy development, management systems, including E, H&S, corporate responsibility and integrated systems, carbon accounting and net zero planning. I also have experience of EIA, due diligence, risk, compliance, permitting, etc.I have broad-ranging sector experience of environmental management, including in manufacturing, oil and gas, chemicals, food and drink, construction and infrastructure, and mining.I\'ve been lucky to travel overseas extensively throughout my career, and have worked with some fantastic people. I\'ve been representing the UK on various International Organization for Standardization (ISO) working groups for a number of years, including on ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management systems, ISO 19001:2018 for the auditing of management systems, ISO 45001:2018, the OHS management systems standard, ISO 14016:2020 on assurance of environmental reports, and ISO 14015:2022 for environmental due diligence. I was also a co-convenor of the working group that developed ISO 17012:2024, which provides guidance on the use of remote methods in management systems auditing. I am currently the chair of a new working group developing ISO 14060, a standard for Net Zero aligned organisations, a very important topic; the standard will provide a credible and verifiable method for demonstrating meaningful action towards net zero.
