ABOUT NICOLE VANDEN BROECK

Nicole Vanden Broeck is a French-Mexican director, screenwriter and educator born and raised in Mexico. She received the FONCA-CONACYT Scholarship to pursue an MFA in Directing at the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles and earned her master’s degree with her thesis film ELLE (2020), which premiered at the Academy-Qualifying Flickers\' Rhode Island International Film Festival and won the Grand Prize Marlyn Mason Award given for new voices, new perspectives by women in film. As a commercial director, she has worked with brands such as Mattel, Vans, Liverpool, Duracell and Proplan. Nicole teaches Film at Universidad Iberoamericana and Advertising at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is also developing her narrative feature script debut with the support of Cine Qua Non Lab, among other long and short form projects.Prior to her move to LA, she co-founded the independent production company 6pm Films based in Mexico City, where she directed narrative, documentary and branded content. Her commercial CARNAVAL DE BAHIDORÁ (2014) won the Best Commercial Award at the Pantalla de Cristal Film Festival and her documentary CON EL TIEMPO (2017) won the Best Short Film Award at the EcoFilm Festival and the Cinelatino Audience Award at the Hola Mexico Film Festival, as a part of the Tomorrow\'s Filmmakers Today fellowship presented by HBO and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Nicole\'s latest documentary STAY APART TOGETHER (2023) has screened at GIFF, RIIFF, DocsMX, Filminist and DOQUMENTA.
