Working in the technology department for Channel 4 Streaming, responsible for strategic programmes, projects, and matrix-managing multiple agile delivery teams.My responsibilities include:• Managing the plan, budget and resource requirements for the backend delivery teams. Up to 80 people (including 2 delivery manager and 3 tech leads) with an annual budget of up to £6 million per year• Delivering large, multi-year, multi-million-pound strategic programmes• Reporting directly and indirectly at Director level, including monthly presentations, regular status reports, and other internal tools• Supplier management, including RFPs / vendor selection, defining and measuring SLAs, and performance reviews• Managing risks, dependencies and issues at programme, project and team level• Mediating technical discussions, including exploring new product features, triaging bugs, and leading assessment and resolution of production issues (i.e. outages)My contributions include:• Leading the teams through 16 quarters of PI planning (Scaled Agile / SAFe), successfully delivering 10-20 projects in each quarter. Bridging the gap between delivery, product, operations and business teams to build product features for the streaming platform• Transitioning the teams to use ‘continuous planning’, and developing the processes to best support the business objectives and priorities (and reducing the time to start new key projects by 1-2 months)• Delivering a 2 year “Identity Provider” migration project to improve platform scalability and reliability. Included vendor selection, requirements gathering, decoupling 10+ legacy systems, implementation, and test & migration plans• Completing a programme of stability and security improvements across front end, back end and SRE teams, reducing the registered number of ‘incidents’ by 90%• Successfully planning, scoping and estimating a multi-million-pound programme to replace core metadata systems in AWS (Redis, lambdas, APIs etc).
