ABOUT MIKE GERHARDT

I work on developing fundamental understanding of electrochemical energy conversion and storage technologies, using a mixture of experiments and computational modeling to identify ways to improve the performance of devices such as flow batteries and fuel cells. I enjoy teaching as well and have taught subjects including introductory chemistry, science and cooking, engineering thermodynamics, and pedagogy for scientists and engineers. I have also advised undergraduate and high-school researchers on multiple battery research projects.
