ABOUT MOSTOFA KAMAL KHAN

I am a chemist by training and an innovator by passion. My research in chemistry started with environmental analytical chemistry with special emphasis on arsenic contamination of ground water and its probable mitigation. Since then, my research expertise evolved spanning several other areas of chemistry such as chemistry of trace metal/metalloid analysis, petroleum geochemistry, organic synthesis, molecular recognition and supramolecular self-assembly, and synthesis and characterization of mesoporous materials by liquid crystal templating. In my recent roles as a R&D scientist, I cross-functionally worked at the interface of chemistry and biology developing new materials for 3D bioprinting, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, cell therapy, and immunomagnetic cells separation. I designed, synthesized and/or functionalized, purified, and characterized functional materials/polymers of both synthetic and biological nature to encapsulate therapeutic cells, control release of drugs, prevent foreign body responses, promote engraftment in vivo, and isolate immune cells by magnetic separation. I get fascinated by novel ideas and love to learn by doing things.
