Launched and led this 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the psychosocial impacts of trauma among international survivors of human rights abuses including war, torture, human trafficking, gender-based violence and persecution due to identity, sexual orientation and beliefs. Three primary programs: mental health care, clinical training and policy advocacy.Key Accomplishments-Built the organization from the ground up with a highly collaborative approach to partnerships with immigrant and refugee serving organizations, funders and mission-aligned entities-In partnership with Clinical Director, developed overall strategy, mission and vision and led governance, program planning, fundraising, budgeting and policy development-Strategically raised funds for this niche issue area, influencing and educating foundation, corporate and individual donors about refugee trauma. Current budget is $1.5 million-Recruited Board of Directors, Advisory Board, professional volunteers and interns, leading to thousands of hours of pro bono support in the areas of: legal expertise, strategic guidance, HIPAA compliance, accounting, social media and outreach, monitoring and evaluation, and more-Launched one of the few clinical psychology training programs in the nation specializing in trauma among international survivors of human rights abuses-Organizational awards and honors received by Alameda County Psychological Association, the United Nations Association, Palo Alto University’s Center for Excellence in Diversity, and more.
