ABOUT MOHAMMED AYAN C.
As a PhD student in the Corson Lab, I investigate the mechanisms behind our novel inhibitor, aimed at treating eye diseases caused by abnormal blood vessel formation. Our lab is located in the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto. My previous research experience includes a MSc thesis, where I screened ~50 novel boron-containing compounds against fungal, bacterial and pancreatic cancer models. Through my work, we identified one compound that strongly inhibited fungal growth by the disruption of their cell membrane. This work took place at Toronto Metropolitan University, with the lab located in the MaRS Discovery District.
