Special Issue \"Molecular Mechanisms of Stem Cell-Mediated Tendon Regeneration: From Signaling Pathways to Therapeutic Applications\"Message from the Guest Editor:Tendon injuries present significant clinical challengesdue to this tissue’s limited intrinsic healing capacity andpredisposition toward fibrotic repair rather thanfunctional regeneration. While stem cell-basedtherapeutic approaches offer promising solutions, theirefficacy depends on complex molecular mechanismsincluding tenogenic differentiation pathways, immunemodulation cascades, and vascular integrationprocesses that remain incompletely characterized. ThisSpecial Issue addresses the fundamental molecularbasis of stem cell-mediated tendon repair throughadvanced tissue engineering methodologies. Centralfocus will be placed on 3D engineeredmicroenvironments and scaffold systems thataccurately recapitulate native tendon architecture, enabling the precise investigation of signaling networks, gene expression profiles, and protein interactionsgoverning cellular behavior. These platforms facilitatethe mechanistic exploration of paracrine signalingcascades and extracellular matrix remodelingprocesses that cannot be adequately studied usingconventional 2D culture systems.
