ABOUT MRINMOY CHAKRABORTY

I recently completed my PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where I also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the UBC School of Kinesiology. With over seven years of experience in environmental engineering, public health research, and interdisciplinary fieldwork, my work bridges household energy use, indoor air pollution, climate resilience, and community well-being—particularly in underrepresented and resource-constrained settings. My doctoral research focused on the health impacts of indoor air pollution and heat stress in rural and low-income households, emphasizing natural ventilation, cleaner energy transitions, and housing design—issues that are increasingly relevant in wildfire-prone and climate-vulnerable regions. I take a community-based and data-informed approach to support actionable and equitable environmental health solutions.I’m deeply interested in research and applications at the intersection of climate, sustainability, and net-zero transitions, with a focus on air pollution and health, emission characterization, and dispersion modeling. My technical background spans air quality modeling, sensor-based monitoring, and statistical analysis, which I use to generate insights that inform public health and environmental policy.I aspire to collaborate across disciplines and sectors to co-create tools and knowledge that drive climate-health equity and sustainable development.
