ABOUT MIKE LOVECCHIO

Mike LoVecchio is an award-winning public relations and crisis communications professional, serving as a trusted advisor to industry and government for more than two decades. He is Director, Indigenous Relations Government Affairs at Canadian Pacific Kansas City (\"CPKC\"), the only tri-national North American freight railroad with tracks directly connecting Canada, the United States and Mexico. Mike’s strengths include advocacy, crisis communications, issue management, media relations, positioning and presentations in a results-oriented environment. Mike routinely engages Indigenous leaders, political leaders, government officials and industry executives on a wide variety of safety and supply chain topics. Mike is also a qualified train conductor. Mike has twice been awarded CPKC\'s CEO Award for Excellence. In 2024, his cross-functional team received the CEO Award of Excellence - Operate Safely for CPKC\'s 2023 wildfire response. In 2022, Mike received the CEO Award of Excellence - Community Hero for his leadership of CPKC\'s corporate reconciliation project, the #EveryChildMatters locomotive. Previously, Mike was spokesperson for Canadian Pacific. He has also been a Communications Manager and spokesperson for the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, an entrepreneur, an aide to cabinet ministers, a public affairs consultant, a campaign manager, a media coach and a scuba diving instructor. In 2007, his team won a Telly Award for a government of British Columbia video production promoting the Pacific Gateway. Mike believes in supporting the community, in collaboration and in professional development. Presently, he is a Director and member of the Executive Committee at Mission Possible, a social enterprise in Vancouver\'s Downtown Eastside. He is also a Director of the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council, an executive level supply-chain advocacy organization. Previously, he served as a Director of the Public Affairs Association of Canada (BC) and was a three term Trustee at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) from Trent University in 1993.
