ABOUT MK MCDONALD
I’m a senior product designer with 7+ years in UX and 4+ years dedicated to digital health, shaping end-to-end healthcare experiences that improve outcomes for patients and streamline workflows for clinicians. My work spans 0→1 product design, scaling design systems, and embedding continuous research to create solutions that are intuitive, compliant, and impactful. At OncoHealth, I co-designed the foundational beta of Iris, launched patient-facing features like symptom tracking and personalized care plans, and advanced a responsive web app supported by scalable design patterns. I also redesigned prior authorization workflows in OneUM, built a UI framework and design system with engineering, and implemented a letter-editing tool that significantly reduced clinician editing time while ensuring compliance. Beyond the interface, I take a systems-thinking, service design approach—mapping every touchpoint and simplifying behind-the-scenes workflows that impact care delivery but are often overlooked. I founded an in-house user research and usability testing program that established regular cycles of patient and clinician feedback, embedding data-driven improvements into product development. I excel at: • End-to-End UX Design & Research – leading research, prototyping, and usability testing to design clear, compliant healthcare experiences. • Design Systems & Scalable Frameworks – building and scaling systems that ensure consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across teams. • Workflow Simplification & Service Design – translating complex clinical and regulatory requirements into clear, usable processes. • Cross-Functional Alignment – collaborating with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders to drive clarity and shared goals. • 0→1 Product Design – shaping early product direction in complex, ambiguous healthcare environments. I’m especially excited by teams pushing the future of healthcare—through virtual care, AI-driven personalization, and scalable digital platforms. I design not just products, but better ways forward for patients, clinicians, and care teams alike. If you’re working on reimagining health and wellness, I’d love to connect.
