WORK HISTORY
Vice President Clinical Nutrition & Culinary Operations- Healthcare @Hebrew SeniorLife
Boston, MA, US
Built a high-performing team for a 750-bed hospital missing staff and infrastructure. Created and executed strategic plans with financial benchmarks to guide the first 6–8 months. Partnered with department leads to assess needs, pilot processes, and adapt strategies based on early insights. Delivered a fully operational team six months ahead of schedule, improving patient care and operational efficiency. The model increased compliance saved over $1M, reduced burnout, and boosted employee satisfaction and patient outcomes.• Reorganized a short-term rehab hospital by streamlining processes that required 8 FTEs for work typically handled by 2. Applied LEAN principles to simplify workflows, condense workstations, and improve patient-facing services. Resolved service quality issues by restructuring teams and optimizing space. Overcame management resistance through data-driven advocacy and inclusive decision-making, reallocating roles without layoffs. Resulted in full compliance, improved timeliness, and the highest patient satisfaction scores in hospital history.• Audited labor and supply chain operations for a 24/7 healthcare facility, identifying $400K in annual overtime and temp staffing costs from lean models and coverage gaps. Set a goal to reduce costs by 50% and built a float pool to cover multiple campuses, cutting expenses by $200K. Implemented an on-demand supply process, reducing waste in medical and nutritional services and saving an additional $250K while improving efficiency and resource management.

ABOUT MISHA SHTIVELMAN
I am a results-driven Healthcare Operations Executive with more than 20 years of experience leading complex operations, advancing quality, strengthening service delivery, and implementing sustainable, cost-effective strategies across healthcare settings. I recently completed my Executive Master’s in Health Administration, which further strengthened my ability to lead with both operational discipline and strategic vision. My leadership approach centers on building high-performing teams, improving engagement, and creating environments where people and performance can thrive together. Throughout my career, I have consistently developed strong leaders, improved employee satisfaction, and maintained retention rates well above industry benchmarks, including turnover below 2%.One initiative I am especially proud of was leading the implementation of a Gallup engagement survey across 160 employees, which resulted in a 95% participation rate and an 86% engagement rate. That outcome reflected more than a successful survey process. It reflected a culture of accountability, growth, feedback, and trust that I worked intentionally to build through mentorship, coaching, and leadership development.Drawing on formal study in leadership and change management, as well as years of hands-on executive experience, I have cultivated a feedback-driven leadership culture grounded in one-on-one coaching, recognition, development, and continuous improvement. I believe strong teams are built by creating psychological safety, reinforcing learning, and helping leaders grow confident enough to develop others.I am also honored to serve as President of the UC MHA Alumni Board, where I help support alumni engagement, educational programming, and continued advancement of the program’s professional community.Colleagues have often referred to me as “the rainmaker” because of my ability to move initiatives forward, turn vision into execution, and build momentum in environments that require both strategic leadership and operational follow-through.I am passionate about healthcare leadership, quality improvement, team development, and building systems that are both high-performing and deeply people-centered.
