Supporting IISC to build a practice based in learning, grounded in our lens of love, power and networks, and with the intent of creating positive social change. We are a national organization of more than thirty consultants and trainers with a 35 year reputation for building skills, facilitating complex gatherings and helping to structure long-term change with a focus on racial equity.Amongst the consulting moments and accomplishments over the past 12 years:~I have designed and co-facilitated two classes of Barr Foundation Fellows as they took on new leadership challenges and learned to trust in themselves and other leaders;~I worked with leaders at all levels of a large urban health department to put equity goals into action with a focus on the commissioner and other senior leaders learning from and with racial equity leaders at all levels; we have contributed to training and facilitating more than staff over the last five years.~Supported the blossoming of a national network of public health and other activists championing oral health in the US, supported by the DentaQuest Foundation.~Helped a consortium of LGBTQ funders to define strategies beyond marriage equality.~Co-created a vibrant, loving and learning IISC over my tenure.

ABOUT MIRIAM MESSINGER

As Director of Practice at IISC, I support our team of 30 consultants as we develop our change strategy and work with networks and organizations to build practices grounded in equity. We help to envision and implement change through design, facilitation, training, sharing resources and coaching leaders, with a focus on racial equity. Over twelve years, I have coached leaders to embed equity and collaboration, worked with a person public agency to center racial equity at all levels, and facilitated classes of non profit leader fellows to learn and transform. I have over twenty years of community based leadership, consultation and research experience. I have been an executive director for seven years at The City School, a foundation grant maker, a researcher and a consultant, creating healthy staff teams, raising millions of dollars and leading groups to work strategically and ethically. I bring expertise in public health, leadership, community and youth development, organizational management and evaluation. My belief in the importance of including multiple voices, authentic and collaborative leadership and the political health of communities fuels my lifetime of work. In coaching, I bring attention to goals, and weave in grounding and somatic practices. I particularly focus on helping leaders, white leaders and leaders of color, to embrace collaborative leadership. I am part of several national collaborations, including co-leading a group of white racial equity consultants and a network of Jewish social justice activists. I am a mother and Bubbie and deeply committed to my family and to building loving community.
