ABOUT MIKE A GUILLEN
I am a third-year Mexican-American, first-generation college student majoring in Social Policy & Public Service at UC Irvine and a Campuswide Honors Collegium Scholar, driven by a commitment to advancing educational equity, student success, and leadership development in higher education. As someone who navigated higher education without a clear roadmap, I understand the barriers many students face—including those that aren\'t always visible—and I carry a responsibility to help remove them.In my roles as an ASUCI Associate Justice, Public Affairs Intern, and intern to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, I engage directly with student advocacy, institutional policy, and program development to improve the campus experience. These opportunities have shown me how governance, outreach, and intentional leadership can translate into meaningful progress—particularly for students who have been historically underserved.Looking ahead, I intend to pursue graduate studies in education, followed by a doctorate in educational leadership. I’m passionate about building systems where students not only access higher education but are equipped to thrive, lead, and feel seen. I believe leadership is service-centered, relational, and grounded in accountability. Areas of focus:– Higher education leadership & policy– Student affairs & program development– Equity-driven governance– Strategic outreach & campus engagement– Community-centered leadershipI’m always open to connecting—whether for support, community, or simply conversation.
