I provide strategic communications leadership, advice, review and support to the Department of Defense’s largest warfare center. I serve as a senior communications advisor to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Commander, Executive Director, subordinate commanders and other senior leaders. Through concise messaging, I inform leadership, NAWCAD employees, and the American taxpayer of NAWCAD’s important vision of advancing capabilities and operational readiness for Naval Aviation and our warfighters.

ABOUT MIKE H.

Hi, I consider myself a journalist at heart and my passion is in storytelling with words, photographs and paintings. In my professional life, I provide strategic communications leadership for senior officials in the Department of Defense’s largest warfare center. I help keep key influential stakeholders informed on the world’s premier combat air systems in the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. In this role, I served as director of strategic communications for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program — DoD\'s largest and most complex acquisition program. I served as a Pentagon spokesperson from May 2020 to December 2021 focusing on special operations, humanitarian efforts, civilian casualties in combat and defense security cooperation. Prior to that, I served as a Department of the Army civilian public affairs officer from 2001, responsible for communications about national security issues to include garrison operations, Army modernization and readiness, space-based capabilities and missile defense. I am a retired Army public affairs sergeant major, who provided oversight to print and broadcast work in Italy, Germany, Honduras, Panama, Bosnia, Kosovo and South Korea in addition to numerous locations in the United States. Early in my career, I was a reporter and photographer for Pacific Stars and Stripes newspaper in Seoul, South Korea.
