ABOUT MICKE RING

I’ve always worked somewhere between creativity and technology — not because it was intentional, but because I’ve never been able to choose one side. I want both. At the same time. All the time.My career started during the.com years in London, building early web experiences when everything was moving too fast for anyone to pretend they had figured it out. Later I worked as a game developer at Jadestone, coding the front end for Championship Manager Online and building Flash demos for Nokia N-Gage titles. It was fun, chaotic, and educational — but spending years on the same project made me feel like a creative bomb waiting to go off.So I found the world that matched my tempo: advertising. At Farfar — one of the most iconic digital agencies of its era — everything clicked. I finally got to mix code, ideas and creative chaos in a way that made sense. I worked on campaigns like Nokia Get Out and Play and Diesel V, both of which helped define that era of digital storytelling. Get Out and Play later won a Silver Lion in Cannes. After Farfar I joined Forsman & Bodenfors and later Garbergs, where I became Digital Director. During that time I worked on Björn Borg First Person Lover, which won both a Guldägg and a Silver Lion. A project that balanced tech, attitude and playfulness — right in my wheelhouse.Along the way I co-founded Songsay with Johan Hirvi from Panetos, pitched it together on Sweden’s “Dragons’ Den,” and we walked out with the biggest investment the show had seen at that point. It grew fast, it was wild, and when it was time to move on — I did.For the past decade I’ve run my own one-man studio, Sitback_studios.Through it I’ve won two more Guldägg:• Positano (with Open Studio Stockholm)• Dr Glas (with DVA Creative Technology Studio and Dramaten)Today I work as a creative technologist.Which basically means I build things that blur the line between art, interaction and engineering — realtime 3D, WebAR, installations, sensor-driven systems, AI-assisted tools and all the hybrid ideas that don’t fit into a neat category. If it reacts, moves, responds or comes alive, I’m in.I also speak about AR, digital futures and creativity, and I’ve taught programming for adults. I like opening doors for people curious about what’s next.In short:I like making things that don’t exist yet.I like bending technology until it behaves. And I like proving that the most interesting ideas happen when you stop following the instructions. If you feel the same, we’ll probably get along.
