WORK HISTORY
Business Support Improvement Manager @Kent County Council
Kent, GB
I was far from alone at seeing the backbone of my career in the restaurant industry get shattered by the pandemic. The projects that were my bread and butter previously were canned in March 2020 and the business model that was so prevalent then, never really returned. Scanning the horizon for industries that could benefit from my skillset, I spent an interesting time with ‘robot delivery’ and part of that was working (or mostly not-working) with the highways division of a number of Councils in the UK. Having never worked in the Public Sector I found the differences to the fast paced multinational restaurant industry that I was very used to, immense. “here’s a ‘business’ that could benefit hugely by the adoption of modern business practice and approach”. The business function is critical to enabling the very broad range of social services offered by KCC to be delivered. As a Council we look after approximately individuals in need of care, some of these individuals may use just one service and many use multiple services. Business Support Teams (BST) are the ‘machine’ behind KCC’s Services and ultimately any innovation or improved ways of working will potentially benefit all of those residents in Kent that look to KCC for Social Care.
