ABOUT MICHAEL JODAH
Hello, I’m Michael. I am a polymath, serial social entrepreneur, and academic. My work is grounded in resilience. I grew up navigating poverty, racism, exclusion, and abuse—experiences that profoundly shaped who I am. These experiences taught me tenacity, empathy, willpower, and the importance of building systems and communities that are both effective in their mission and where people feel seen, supported, and valued. Today, I choose to speak, to show up, and to help create the conditions where everyone can thrive. As an environmentalist, I am deeply concerned about the implications of a future ecological collapse caused by habitat destruction, pollution, eutrophication of our oceans, species loss and global warming. I am the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Regenesis, an environmental organization that works directly with post-secondary students and institutions across North America to address the ecological crisis. I am also the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of HOUSE Canada, an affordable housing advocacy and development organization focused on improving the housing situation for young people and students. I volunteer extensively. Currently, my primary volunteer focus is on creating affordable housing in Canada. I co-founded Guyana Community House, which aims to create an affordable housing facility and community centre to serve the Guyanese Canadian diaspora. I have an extensive background as an educator and researcher. I am currently completing my Ph.D. at the Faculty of Education, York University. I won two university teaching awards. I led one international and three national-level research studies. Both my undergraduate and master\'s thesis research won awards. 🤗 I believe in giving back, and I will always be open to meeting with people. I like helping others by providing advice and assistance where I can (e.g. giving career advice, reviewing resumes, providing university scholarship and admissions advice, providing insight into my industries). I am open to considering media interviews, speaking engagements, and discussing potential partnerships and proposals with post-secondary institutions, charities, non-profit organizations and social enterprises.
