ABOUT MICHAEL SPERLING

Words have been my calling since I started my career as a sports writer at The Washington Post and went on to tell stories as a journalist – ranging from the unsung foreman of the Washington, D.C, Bureau of Sewer Services who sifted through sludge underneath the city streets to find false teeth, lost keys and a diamond ring, to the relentless rebounding of pro basketball legend Moses Malone. This storytelling ability fueled a corporate communications career that saw me help drive industry-focused public relations for the world’s largest business software company – Oracle – and play a pivotal role in corporate media relations for one of the world’s commercial aviation leaders – American Airlines. In these positions, I managed and staffed interviews with C-level executives, including CEOs, from both companies and media trained their top senior officers. Media savvy, writing skill and keen editing eyes were instrumental in top national placements and contributed to an American Airlines team that was a leader in capturing print and broadcast share of voice while winning public relations awards – standing out in the challenging airline industry. Now, I\'m working on writing opportunities.
