ABOUT MICHAEL JOHNSON

For over 4 years, I was the Senior Manager of Merchandising at The Source, where I applied my skills in new business development, problem solving, and business administration to improve processes, increase profitability, and lead growth opportunities in the retail industry. I leveraged my ability to identify category sales opportunities and capitalize on consumer trends through both domestic and international strategic sourcing. I also navigated complex supplier negotiations and built productive, lasting relationships that allowed me to retain accounts in highly competitive markets. Previously, I worked as a Senior Buyer at Toys R Us, where I was responsible for creating assortment plans and a strategic portfolio vision for the home electronics and video gaming categories. I established Toys R Us Canada as a retail leader in the \"Toys to Life\" video game category with popular brands such as Skylanders, Lego Dimensions, and Nintendo\'s amiibo. I also took the initiative to apply hard line procurement principles and strategies to the soft line toy industry, resulting in significant savings and efficiencies. As the retail industry undergoes continual change, I am looking for a new opportunity in a more sustainable industry where I can bring my diverse merchant experience and expertise.
