As a Fire/Arson Investigator I hold the responsibility in determining the cause and origin of fires of all types, including those involving, structure both residential/ commercial, wildland, vehicle and marine fires. Suspicious circumstances, deaths, injuries, explosions, or fires that involve significant losses. As an Accelerant Detection K-9 Handler, I am responsible for handling my K-9 partner at fire scenes, including: structures, vehicle, evidence verification, article and debris sniffs. I am responsible for collecting and preserving K-9 related evidence, per the chain of custody. As a Certified Fire Arson Investigator/AD K-9 Handler, I still possess the powers of arrest and authorization to carry firearm, as a Peace Officer, pursuant to California Penal Code Section 830.37.
