Driving forward on issues related to FDA polices, Artificial Intelligence, adequate physician networks, and forensics. Making sure pathologists can keep doing what their doing so you can stay healthy - or get well soon. Advocated for Congress and the FDA to move away from an adverse oversight structure that CAP leadership opposed; in tandem with our regulatory staff, analyzed and synthesized legislative language, led CAP response to Congressional inquiries and participated in major stakeholder meetings on development of laboratory tests. Led CAP strategy and response to Congressional push to end surprise medical billing; was main organization point of contact with physician coalition dedicated to pushing for large-scale changes to rapidly changing federal legislation. Secured changes to surprise billing legislation that significantly lessened the negative impact it would have had on our membership and pathology services.o Prepared and submitted statements for the record and responses to Senate HELP, House Energy & Commerce, Education & Labor, and Ways & Means committees which helped make the Committees and Members pause and slow the policy development to reduce unintended consequences. Built up our outreach to other physician organizations so the CAP can lead on issues like surprise medical billing, laboratory developed tests, forensic pathology, and other issues that may impact the CAP and broader physician community. Advised Political Action strategy for CAP-friendly Members of Congress and was instrumental in raising over $10k for members like Senators Kaine, Casey, Murkowski and Grassley, and Representatives Craig, Walden, Guthrie, Pallone, Brady, and Neal.
