ABOUT MICHAEL CHRISOHOOU

I am a legal practitioner in Kain Lawyers\' commercial team. I have degrees in law and accounting and previously worked for a big 4 accounting firm.My areas of expertise include:• general commercial transactional work including corporate acquisitions & divestments and business sales & purchasing;• advising on business structures and restructuring with a particular speciality in trust law;• acting for borrowers in a range of senior debt financing transactions (including corporate, property and acquisition finance) and acting for borrowers and private lenders in a range of junior and mezzanine financing arrangements; and• advising on a broad range of corporate and business law matters, particularly matters involving high net worth individuals and large SMEs.I have broad tax experience, having directly reported to senior tax partners at a previous Adelaide firm for a number of years. I also have an accounting background, having worked at Ernst & Young for two years as well as having tutored final year accounting at the University of Adelaide.These two skill sets complement my corporate practice. My clients find that these skill sets are particularly valuable in my work on corporate acquisitions, business sales and purchasing as well as when advising on business structures and restructures.I have significant experience in matters involving medium to large SMEs, the pharmacy industry and commercial property. I have been a regular presenter for the Tax Institute of Australia. In 2012 I presented at the Tax Institute’s tax intensive on the topic of “Real Property Transactions – Opportunities and Pitfalls”.I also sat on the Tax Institute’s South Australian education committee for two years.I was also formerly the President of the Prince Alfred College Old Collegians Soccer Club.
