ABOUT MOHAMMAD HOSSEIN BASIRI
As an experienced research engineer in control-oriented applications particularly in automotive engineering and robotics, I\'m fascinated by the exploitation of control theory notions interwoven with Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) to safely and securely control generic plants subject to faults/cyber-attacks. The particular application that I\'m actively investigating is to focus on Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to form resilient vehicle platoons which are capable of efficiently mitigate the effects of faults/attacks imposed by intelligent intruders. Elaborating more on my fields of expertise, I point to the design of new techniques for fault/attack detection and secure state estimation for CPS with the application to connected vehicles and the design of safe and secure Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) and ADAS features for CAV platooning.I\'m also skilled in Robotics, Path Planning, Control Theory, Optimal Control, Adaptive Control, and System Identification with strong programming background in C++, ROS, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, HDL/Verilog, LaTeX, Pspice, Proteus, CodeVision, and LabVIEW (hands-on experience with Hardware: Arduino, Raspberry Pi and QUARC Quanser). On top of all that, strong presentation and communication skills developed through project collaborations, teaching, journal publications, and conference presentations are my another pluses.SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS• 10+ years academic research and hands-on practical experience in control engineering, coupled with solid theoretical background with a focus on control systems applied to automotive control and robotics.• Expertise and detailed knowledge in Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs), autonomous driving subsystems, sensors and algorithms including path planning, guidance and navigation, optimization, estimation, and control.• Excellent programming, modelling and simulation skills in C++, ROS, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink.• Strong presentation and communication skills developed through project collaborations, teaching, journal publications, and conference presentations.• Strong analytical skills with ability to improve research procedures.• Fast-paced learner and highly motivated in learning new technologies.• Able to lead and innovate under tight design and regulatory constraints.
