ABOUT MICHAEL EILERS

Lift the lid on the majority of in-house software and web applications and you\'ll find a miasma of prototype code, abandoned refactors, and technical debt - digital rot, if you will. I know how software gets this way, and I know how to prevent it - and when to pull the plug and forge a new tool. In my management career with HSAG, Epiq, General Motors and a variety of medical and health-related companies, I\'ve sought out \"modernization\" projects, transforming stale and rotting monolithic apps into modern, flexible, data-driven frameworks of services and components for many platforms. My favorite keyboard key is delete - do more with less code, strive for clarity and elegant solutions, and integrate with third-party SaaS/PaaS tools and environments with high-security solutions. I\'ve worked with the CMS, the FDA, and worn every hat from developer to project manager, product owner, hiring manager, and educator. I hire fearless team members who contribute on day one, and I stand behind them as they transform the company from within. I\'m often a hands-on leader exploring and prototyping technology options but I will also cede the floor to expertise wherever I find it; no idea is dismissed and all options are explored. My background in education has given me a keen sense of how to motivate productivity and identify skill gaps, and how to spot high potentials. As a director at HSAG I\'ve enacted the team\'s desire to move to current development standards, from older.NET and SVN to Git, continuous integration, and.NET CORE with aggressive use of Azure\'s PaaS and cloud solutions. We work closely with business to develop the right product the first time.At General Motors I worked with both new college grads and industry veterans to forge a web platform for the brand sites on a global scale. We drove the adoption of Git over SVN, SASS vs. CSS, demanded full mobile-first design and implemented one-click deployment to production. At Epiq we drove automation with.NET MVC and React, replacing processes that had previously been faxes, phone calls and shell scripts. At Kinetic Muscles Inc. we developed an industry-first software approach to treating Traumatic Brain Injury, creating an FDA Class 3 medical device funded by the Wounded Warrior Initiative and the DOD. I\'m also a coder, familiar with most modern Web technologies as well as Python, C# and Java. I use this engineering knowledge to forge connections with my team and create rigorous standards for clean, robust, and modular code.
