WORK HISTORY
Senior Software Engineer - Technical Lead @NXP Semiconductors
DE
I act as the Lead Software Engineer for the team building NXP’s internal trusted secure data exchange platform. My job is to bridge the gap between our operations and software delivery, making sure we build tools that actually work in a high-stakes, 24/7 manufacturing environment. The Highlight: Built a massive internal delivery platform from the ground up. It’s a distributed system crossing different security zones with 13 microservices that manages critical secure deliveries for global customers. If this tool fails, production stops, so it was designed it for maximum security and zero downtime. My day-to-day: • Own the full lifecycle: from sitting down with operations teams to understand their pain points, to designing the APIs, to managing the CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes). • Handle the noise and architecture decisions so my team can focus on coding.• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow their technical skills and navigate their career paths.• Driving AI Integration: Evaluating AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality and accelerate delivery.• Solve business problems by reducing engineering overhead and improving process predictability.
EDUCATION
Hamburg University of Applied Sciences
Bachelor of Science - BS, Information Engineering
ESMT Berlin
Master of Business Administration - MBA, Business Administration and Management, General
ABOUT MAX RAAFAT
I’m a Tech Lead & Senior Software Engineer (mainly JVM Ecosystem) who realized early on that the hardest part of tech isn’t the code, it’s the people and the processes around it. I’ve spent nearly a decade in the semiconductor world, building high-security, distributed systems that simply cannot afford to fail.My biggest win so far was developing an internal security platform from the ground up; 13 micro-services handling critical deliveries for global customers. It was a massive technical puzzle, but the real challenge was leading the team and stakeholders through the finish line. I’m currently doing my part-time MBA at ESMT Berlin to get better at the \"business\" side of these decisions, so I can talk about ROI as comfortably as I talk about CI/CD pipelines.Outside of the IDE, I spent four years leading a large community group (ERG) at NXP. That’s where I learned how to manage budgets, resolve conflicts, and actually build a culture people want to be a part of. I am also firm believer in learning by doing. I maintain a comprehensive home lab featuring a custom-built Unraid NAS for resilient data storage and a Proxmox server running multiple LXC containers. This ecosystem serves as my sandbox for testing AI Agentic setups and exploring the future of autonomous developer workflows. Managing my own infrastructure keeps my sysadmin and networking skills sharp, ensuring I stay grounded in the hardware realities that support our software.I’m now looking for my next challenge as an Engineering Manager or a Tech Lead where I can keep one foot in tech and one foot in leadership. If you\'re looking for a lead who speaks both Developer and Executive, let\'s grab a coffee or drop me a message.
