ABOUT MAUREEN M. HOLMAN
Maureen Holman serves DC Water as Vice President, Shared Services, overseeing the departments of Security, Occupational Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Fleet and Facilities. Ms. Holman provides leadership and guidance for planning and implementing policies and procedures that promote reliability and safety within DC Water’s operations. She provides support in the development and implementation of energy and natural resource conservation projects, including energy redundancy and green building design. Ms. Holman is an expert adviser to the CEO and executive staff with over 20 years of experience and provides recommendations and analysis regarding emerging issues affecting sustainability, resiliency, climate change and environmental, health & safety compliance. Maureen is a Mayoral appointee to the DC Commission on Climate Change and Resiliency as well as the Leadership Council for a Cleaner Anacostia. She represents DC Water on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) Chesapeake Bay Water Resources Policy Committee, MWCOG Climate, Energy, and Environmental Policy Committee, DC Green Building Advisory Council, and the DC Urban Forestry Advisory Committee. She is a sought after speaker on topics of sustainability, resiliency and climate change, frequently contributing presentations to national and international conferences. Prior to joining DC Water, Maureen served as interim director of the District Department of Energy and the Environment and as a program analyst in the DC Office of the City Administrator. She has also worked as an animal keeper and educator at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Holman holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Southern California, a juris doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law, and a graduate environmental ethics certificate from the UGA College of Environment and Design.
