ABOUT MAUREEN HENRY

Experienced program director, policy analyst (JD), researcher (PhD), and health quality measure developer with a passion for improving the lives of people who are vulnerable to the adverse effects of poor health and social determinants of health. I use cross-disciplinary experience and training that allow me to connect the dots between research, policy, and patient well-being, deep thinking to develop pragmatic solutions to challenges, and relationship-building to achieve my organization\'s goals. I love the challenges posed by work spaces that are ambiguous and complex. Successes • Drafted state and federal legislation to support care planning, with an emphasis on the rights of people with impaired cognitive function. • Developed and shepherded the Advance Health Care Decisions Act in Utah to unanimous passage in the Utah House and Senate. • Secured nearly $5 million in funding for NCQA to conduct a pilot developing quality measures based on patient care goals, and led the first phase and launched the second phase of the work. • Developed and negotiated the Care Planning Act of 2013 for Senator Mark Warner. • Served as the inaugural Executive Director of the Utah Commission on Aging, secured extensions during several sunset reviews, and secured line-item funding in the Utah State budget.
