ABOUT DANIELLA DALSHEIM
The students I\'ve served and the educators I\'ve learned from fuel my commitment to creating meaningful educational change. Currently, I\'m pursuing a graduate degree in Education Policy at Teachers College. I have the opportunity to serve as a visiting student at Columbia University’s Law School, where I serve as a learner and consultant at the Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL). In my first year at Teachers College in New York City, I joined the Center for Professional Education of Teachers (CPET) as a professional development coach. I have had the opportunity to strategically plan with school leaders and coach teachers across New York City. This experience introduced me to the complexities of NYC schooling and sparked my interest in the role consultants play in educational spaces, which I continue to explore through my work at CPRL. I’m excited to apply the interdisciplinary skills I continue to gain to necessary educational innovation. I have experience as a teacher, coach, mentor, and advocate for students, families, and teachers. Prior to moving to NYC, I led an English Language program for middle school students in Nashville, TN. Since moving to the city, I have remained engaged in classroom spaces by working with high school teachers and leaders in Queens during the academic school year, spending the summer teaching 5th-grade Science in Morningside Heights, and serving as a substitute teacher at Columbia University\'s Medical Center Preschool. I am licensed to teach K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) and 5-12 English Language Arts (EDPTA and Praxis). My research and policy interests span Multilingual Learner education, general education, urban politics, criminology, health, and change strategies focusing on creating equitable opportunities for children and adults. I continuously seek learning experiences that promote innovative thinking and provide the collaboration needed to drive systemic improvements in education and public sector entities.
