As an Editorial Trainee, I’ve supported the Editorial and VFX department, working under the 1st Assistant Editor, 2nd Assistant Editor, VFX Assistant Editor and the VFX Editor. Key responsibilities:• Placing markers in Avid to note action cues, performance beats, and script references.• Organising bins, syncing multi-cam footage to sound, grouping clips.• Cutting in temp sound effects and building rough sound design passes for reels and scenes.• Creating and inserting temp VFX shots used in editor’s cuts and previews.• Assisting with turnovers to sound exporting AAFs and EDLs• Transferring and backing up media using rsync and other command tools in terminal.• Script syncing dailies in Avid for searchable, script oriented linked sequences.This experience has strengthened my understanding of editorial pipelines, technical workflows, and the collaborative dynamic between editorial and VFX.
