ABOUT MATTHEW GUNDRY
As an experienced Chemistry educator with a Master\'s in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry and a PGCE in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham, I have spent nearly a decade refining my teaching, curriculum development, and educational leadership skills. Currently, I serve as the Head of Chemistry at Grey Court School in London, where I am proud to have led our students to achieve some of the best GCSE and A-level results the school has ever seen, with 50% of our 20••••24 A-level cohort achieving A*-A grades.Between Sep \'23 and Aug \'24, I took on the role of Curriculum Design Lead for Chemistry at Oak National Academy, employed through the University of York. In this capacity, I successfully led a team of chemistry teachers using cutting-edge research from the University of York Science Education Group (UYSEG) to develop a comprehensive resource suite that aligns with the KS3 and KS4 national curriculum. This work includes an extensive set of slide decks, worksheets, quizzes, and filmed lessons designed to support new teachers, those teaching outside their specialisms, and learners studying from home. I personally contributed by filming and photographing practical chemistry experiments to enrich these resources, as well as designing the curriculum to cover three major exam boards. Additionally, I wrote and created lesson slide decks, worksheets, and quizzes.In addition to my work in the classroom and curriculum design, I am passionate about making science education accessible to all. I run revisechemistry.uk, a science revision website that I am currently upgrading to revisescience.org.uk. I aim to offer a full suite of KS3-KS5 chemistry notes and revision materials by the end of the academic year, with plans to expand into biology and physics.Through these diverse roles, I am dedicated to enhancing the quality of science education, supporting fellow educators, and inspiring the next generation of scientists.
