ABOUT MATTHEW WILSON

I’m a Deputy Team Leader for Education at Softcat, working with schools, trusts, and wider public sector organisations to help them use technology in a way that genuinely supports outcomes, not just infrastructure.At Softcat, we’re proud of being people‑first and relationship‑led, and that’s exactly how I approach my role. I focus on understanding what really matters to customers - from funding pressures and risk reduction to long‑term transformation - and then bringing together the right specialists, partners, and solutions to deliver meaningful, sustainable value.Alongside managing my own Education customer portfolio, I support and develop Account Managers within the team, helping them grow their confidence, capability, and impact. I enjoy coaching others, setting clear direction, and creating an environment where people can do their best work — for customers and for each other.Before moving into tech, I ran a business and worked in events, experiences that shaped how I communicate, stay adaptable, and remain calm under pressure. Those skills now translate directly into complex IT engagements where clarity, trust, and follow‑through are critical.I’m driven by learning, collaboration, and doing the right thing - for customers, for the team, and for the long term.
