ABOUT MATTHEW WADGE

I am currently a Third Century Fellow in the Surface Engineering Group, based at Manchester Metropolitan University, and an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham. My research has focused on metal alloy production, thin films, and wet-chemical materials processing for a plethora of applications, including energy harvesting/hydrogen storage, biomedical materials, and additive manufacturing. My PhD and EPSRC Doctoral Prize work investigated wet chemical conversion of sputtered Ti thin films/Ti-alloy microspheres into nanoporous multi-functional titanate structures, with bioactive, antibacterial and self-assembling properties, for orthopaedic implant surfaces/devices.
