As a Public Affairs Intern at the American Petroleum Institute, I supported strategic communications and government relations initiatives to advance energy policy and promote the U.S. oil and natural gas industry. Working closely with the public affairs and policy teams, I contributed to efforts that informed stakeholders, elevated API’s advocacy priorities, and positioned the industry as a key driver of America’s energy future.Key Responsibilities-Tracked and summarized legislative and regulatory developments at the federal level-Drafted briefing memos, policy one-pagers, and talking points for external stakeholders-Assisted in coordinating public affairs campaigns around energy policy and climate strategy-Conducted research on key policy issues including energy security, environmental regulations, and tax incentives-Monitored news coverage and stakeholder messaging relevant to API’s strategic goals-Collaborated across communications and policy teams to align public messaging with legislative priorities
