TALENT BEYOND BOUNDARIES: Global Re-employment for Skilled RefugeesThe United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates that there are 25 million refugees. Most live precarious lives and have limited access to legal work, education and heath care. The UN now resettles fewer than refugees a year and new solutions are urgently needed. Many refugees have skills should be shared. Instead, refugees who are doctors and nurses, teachers, accountants, engineers, and hundreds of other types of professionals live in poverty or resort to taking low-skill, low-paying jobs, stuck in economic, social, and political limbo. At the same time, 40% employers around the world report that cannot find skilled workers. Talent Beyond Boundaries is working to bring this hidden refugee talent pool into the global labor markets and provide a new solution for skilled refugees. We are pioneering new labor mobility pathway for refugees whose job skills are in demand globally. TBB recently completed a successful first of its kind demonstration project (funded by the State Department) focusing on refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. TBB works closely with UNHCR, and the Governments of Canada and Australia and has offices in Washington, Melbourne, Toronto, Beirut and Amman.
