ABOUT MARY ANNE MCKOWN
Ms. Mary Anne McKown possesses more than 30 years of experience, 18 of which include supporting homeland security preparedness, and disaster response activities. She has a sound understanding of emergency management and homeland security principles having supported the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Defense (DOD) in various capacities in the development and implementation of critical national response doctrine, support to civil authorities, strategic planning, deliberate interagency and departmental scenario-specific plans, standard operating procedures, preparedness and risk management documents, national-level exercises, and supporting real-world incidents and National Special Security Events. She has extensive experience coordinating with and brokering agreements among senior-level interagency and State, local, trial, and private sector partners on sensitive homeland security issues. She is intimately familiar with the concept of multiagency agency coordination having served on the writing teams for the National Response Plan (NRP) and National Response Framework (NRF). A certified Project Management Professional®, Ms. McKown has in-depth familiarity with initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing of programs and projects of varying size and complexity. She most recently served as the first Managing Director for the National Capital Region Homeland Security Program Management Office where she established metrics and measured performance for regional homeland security programs that supported the NRC Homeland Security Strategic Plan. In 2013, Ms. McKown was inducted into the International Women in Homeland Security and Emergency Management Hall of Fame for her work in the development and coordination of national preparedness and response doctrine.
