That\'s when I was sent a job specification for J&D Wilkie Ltd as their Strategic Purchasing Manager, based out in Angus. I thought wow, if I could get this, this is exactly what I\'m looking for where I can make a difference and love what I do. I\'m not sure how many companies can boast that they have been family run for over 156 years, but J&D Wilkie Ltd can! I was inspired initially by the ambition of this relatively small company based out of Angus, and even more inspired after speaking with their senior management. I knew nothing about textiles prior to starting, other than my clothes were somehow made in a factory that specialised in textiles. Since then, I\'ve tried to absorb as much information as I possibly can. The old saying of \"every day is a school day\" is absolutely right! Especially when you work for a company with vast history and experience within the textiles industry. The people at J&D Wilkie Ltd have a real passion and knowledge for what they do, and support one another to help improve and change the status quo. I\'m eager to learn more from my colleagues, and share what I can when I can. I\'ve been pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback and support from within our supply chain. I feel that it is invaluable to the business to have a supply chain that we can rely on, and that is certainly the case. Our suppliers are at the heart of our business, supporting and driving our success, which translates into long-term relationships with our clients. I\'m confident that if we keep challenging the status quo and supporting one another, we will have another 156 years of success in the textiles industry!
