ABOUT MARTA NORTON

Marta Norton is responsible for articulating Empower’s economic and market point of view to clients and financial media. In her role as Chief Investment Strategist, she collaborates with colleagues to develop key insights around economic conditions and illuminate risks and opportunities within equities and fixed income. She publishes a monthly commentary called “Between the Margins” and is the architect behind Empower’s annual and quarterly outlooks. Marta is widely quoted in the financial press, is a frequent podcast guest, and appears regularly across financial broadcast and streaming networks. Important Disclosures: Before joining Empower, Marta spent 18 years at Morningstar, Inc, starting as a research analyst and ultimately assuming the position of Chief Investment Officer of the Americas within Morningstar Investment Management. In that role, she was responsible for managing a large team of investment professionals and focused heavily on global multi-asset portfolio management. She helped launch and co-manage several Morningstar Mutual Funds, including Morningstar Global Opportunistic Equity MSTSX, Morningstar Alternatives MSTVX, Morningstar Global Income MSTGX, and Morningstar Defensive Bond MSTBX. Prior to joining Morningstar, Marta was a research analyst at LECG, LLC, an economic consulting firm, and an economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics. She graduated cum laude from Wheaton College in Illinois and is a CFA charterholder. When she isn’t analyzing markets, she is chasing after her trio, reading while walking, or braving all kinds of midwestern weather to beat her mile pace from the day before.
