Wind Turbine Technician @Sky Climber Renewables

I initially started in the wind industry performing lightning protection system (LPS) upgrades inside and around turbine blades to bring the overall LPS up to standards. After a few months of perfecting the trade, I was relocated to a new construction site. Heavy component receiving and documenting, commissioning, completing generator alignments, and managing parts between multiple teams are just some of the tasks that greeted me at the Texas site. To say the learning curve was steep would be an understatement, however, I was always able to contact the right person whenever I needed extra help. I also love working with my hands and practicing how to do all of these duties was very educational. Once I excelled at those tasks I got transferred again. Currently, I have been doing a little bit of everything and have been helping around from start to finish. Key achievements and responsibilities include: • Bringing the lightning protection system up to standards and reinforcing it by updating and upgrading essential components • Working on generator alignments to put the tower together and reduce overall downtime • Managing and executing grid connection and commissioning, including pre-com and final com, to ensure maximum productivity and smooth operations between multiple teams • Precisely inspecting all the heavy components at every site and monitoring key performance indicators • Receiving and meticulously documenting around 50 heavy components coming in at a rapid rate per week
