Reporting to the president, manage a team of three communications professionals.Lead yearly communications strategic planning for all programs ensuring alignment of all communications. Responsible for defining key messages, choosing the best tools to get the messages heard, and how to best communicate with a variety of stakeholders.Plan and execute regular Canada-wide media campaigns to release policy reports. To support releases, provide media training to policy experts and senior leaders.Act as communications advisor and guide to all Maytree program managers as well as policy partners and grantees; projects I’ve worked on include launch of new workplace retirement plan for non-profit workers and campaign to have housing recognized as a human right.Manage monthly lunch and learn program with up to 500 people in attendance (now moved online as webinars because of the pandemic); topics covered include building financial health through the workplace, racial justice change-making, and how to re-open your workplace post COVID-19.Managed and implemented new brand, including a new website, transitioning the foundation from a focus on immigration and diversity to poverty and human rights.To ensure wider distribution of Maytree’s ideas and opinions, created and implemented new multimedia and social media strategy. This included a more focused use of video and audio (including a podcast), as well as setting up and maintaining Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
