ABOUT MARK FERNANDES

With extensive experience as an executive in the technology and energy sectors, I am passionate about creating value-based technology organizations that contribute to the bottom line and solve complex business challenges. As the CIO of Hydro Ottawa, I am responsible for aligning the company\'s technology needs with its strategic objectives in its core areas of businesses, including electricity distribution, renewable energy generation, energy conservation and management services. As the EVP of Hiboo Networks, I launched and led a start-up that delivers innovative telecommunications services and products, managing all aspects of the business, from strategy and finance to product development and operations. My core competencies include digital strategies and execution, cost optimization, cybersecurity and risk management, product services and product management, cloud platforms, grid modernization, infrastructure and data center operations, mergers and acquisitions, vendor and expense management, project and program management, change management, talent and performance management, and board governance. I am certified as a corporate director (ICD.D) and a project management professional (PMP), and have a diploma in information technology and a bachelor\'s degree in commerce and sociology.
