ABOUT MARK SFERRELLA
When I began studying martial arts, I would see people from all walks of life came together to pursue a common goal of learning self-defense techniques. During this process, I noticed how people had more in common than they thought. When I extended my martial arts journey to Japan, again I noticed that people are more similar than different. With the desire to work hard, to improve our skills, to connect, to laugh, to share, to help, we\'re always on hand and available to each other. When I joined Honda, I saw this same commonality amongst people, whether they were a co-worker, a supplier, or a customer. To this end, I continued to appreciate those same commonalities which we all have and desire, and have brought that throughout my career. As I progressed in my career, my global travels became extensive, sometimes 7 months out of the year! In these travels, I found the same desires in people, whether they lived in western China, eastern Europe, South America, or anywhere. This inspired me to expand my thinking on \"how\" I could help people. This thinking required me to overcome the \"we\'ve always done it this way\" mentality, and instead foster a teamwork mentality of \"let\'s try a new way to get the results we want\".In the last 7 years of my career with Honda, it seemed that every project and effort was oriented towards creating a new process, a new supply chain, or a new value that was needed by the customer, by our team, or by our suppliers. These efforts were a joy because I knew they were helping the stakeholders. Not to say these projects and efforts were easy, they were painful, frustrating, slow going, and occasionally unsuccessful. But in working with these people from around the world, it was always apparent that we all wanted similar things, just like at the Dojo, to do our best, to see improvement, to help others, and to enjoy the effort as we went through the process. Highlights of my career include successfully growing and managing budgets some over $250 million, establishing efficient and cost-saving processes and systems, bringing about company-wide culture improvements, and innovative change that drives revenue increases, and reduces costs sometimes up to 30%. I have a passion for the manufacturing and supply chain & logistics industries, to bring about positive change, growth, and business development.
