ABOUT MARK HARRIS
I\'m pretty much retired - doing a bit of gig work, where I try and bring the client a perspective and set of capabilities amassed over a career that spanned journalism, corporate communications and higher education. In brief, 30 plus years at IBM, where, among other things, I served on the communications staff of former CEO Lou Gerstner and later led a terrific team responsible for communications for IBM\'s global consulting business. Then, three years on the PR faculty at Alabama, the nation\'s premier public relations program; and a few wonderful years as global communications advisor at Xero, the leading cloud accounting platform for small business. Areas of some specific expertise include speech writing; message creation and helping spokespeople lift their games in live, human-to-human communications - standing in front of other people, arresting their attention and mounting a memorable, persuasive case. Pro tip, the great ones are great for a reason, and it\'s not natural talent.
