I am a partner in the Ashurst finance practice specialising in European NPL resolution, asset portfolio transactions, debt financing and strategic finance projects. The firm was one of the first to advise on non-performing loan resolution transactions in the European market following the global financial crisis and our team has delivered over £115 billion of portfolio transactions for clients on time and to budget across Europe.I have extensive experience acting on the acquisition and disposal of large-scale portfolios of loans, derivatives and other financial assets across a multitude of asset classes and sectors. Landmark transactions include advising Commerzbank on the disposal of a £5.5bn UK commercial real estate platform (owned by Hypothekenbank) and the related performing and distressed books of assets to Wells Fargo and Lone Star, advising a European fund on the acquisition of a distressed £1.5bn Irish real estate portfolio, advising a European bank on its purchase of the c€4bn Project Stone portfolio from IBRC with assets spread across 16 jurisdictions worldwide and advising a European bank on the sale of $2bn of Greek shipping finance across multiple parallel transactions.I advise on strategic projects for financial institutions including, by way of illustration, on LIBOR transition, balance sheet management programmes, asset migration programmes, digital economy and financial technology initiatives.In delivering transactions and projects for financial institutions, I work closely with Ashurst Advance – an integrated global team that combines 4 fundamental areas of legal service innovation (alternative resourcing, legal project management process improvement and legal technology) to ensure that significant benefits are brought to clients in terms of service delivery, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and technological innovation.I enjoy presenting as a speaker and panellist on the above topics at seminars and conferences, most recently having presented in London, Athens and Singapore.
