ABOUT MARISA TWIGG

Marisa Twigg serves as the Ohio Environmental Council\'s Creative and Communications Director, creating content across platforms for the OEC family of organizations. Marisa is passionate about environmental and climate justice communication, creating impactful content by weaving still visuals with written narratives to immerse people in stories. Focusing on journalism and environmental justice, Marisa earned a B.S. in Environmental Policy and Decision Making from the Ohio State University in 2018, where she became the student newspaper\'s first environment reporter and launched the outlet\'s first sustainability podcast. That same year, Marisa co-founded Grey Matter Media, Columbus\' only women and LGBTQ+ founded nonprofit media outlet dedicated to evolving the city\'s local news, and launched the nonprofit\'s first media publication, Matter News, which investigates Columbus development and policing. As editor-in-chief, she oversaw the publication\'s editorial vision, strategy and team development. Marisa has also managed communications for a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership between ENGIE, Axium Infrastructure and the Ohio State University, and has worked as a content creator for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ohio State University\'s Ohio Woodland Stewards extension program, among many other pursuits. Outside of work, Marisa is an avid outdoor adventurer and nature enthusiast. She lives in Hilltop, and enjoys gardening, biking the Camp Chase Trail, hiking Zaleski State Forest and kayaking Ohio\'s beautiful lakes and scenic rivers.
